Moor Floor Finishes NEW SPORTGUARD is a specifically formulated single component moisture curing polyurethane seal. NEW SPORTGUARD floor seal / varnish has excellent tractional properties combined with a tough durable finish. NEW SPORTGUARD floor seal / varnish has also been tested to conform to the spec BS EN 14904 (Surfaces for sports areas – Indoor surfaces for multi-sports use – specification) which refers to the procedure and standard of slip resistance within BS EN 13036-4:2003. NEW SPORTGUARD floor seal / varnish can be used on all new and refurbished Wood, Granwood, Gransprung and Concrete.

NEW SPORTGUARD floor seal / varnish is very easy to apply and produces an unrivalled Gloss, Satin or Semi Matt finish.

Uses:

  • Predominantly used for sealing Sports Hall floors made of Wood, Granwood or Gransprung.
  • Will give Concrete a tough oil-resistant finish.
  • Can also be used in Showrooms, Warehouses and Industrial areas.
  • A tough durable finish will withstand areas with high levels of wear
  • Very Easy and economical to maintain

Preparation / Application:
Ensure a good level of ventilation at all time throughout the procedure.

Apply NEW SPORTGUARD floor seal / varnish evenly using an applicator or roller. Take care not to leave pools, runs or drip marks, which will detract from the overall appearance of the floor. If the floor is to be left overnight before recoating, it is important that the surface is lightly abraded using a suitable grade of sandpaper or sandscreen/mesh disc to ensure good adhesion of the finish.

Once final coat has been applied, the floor should be left for a minimum of 48 hours prior to light traffic being permitted. The finish will continue to harden for a period of 5 days.

Cleaning chemicals should be avoided during this period.

How to Apply New Sportguard Video

Cleaning, Abrading & Resealing:
Wood, Granwood and Gransprung surfaces should be scrubbed with an alkaline degreasing solution, rinsed and neutralised with Moor Floor Finishes NEUTRAL FLOORCLEAN. The floor should then be rinsed clean and allowed to dry thoroughly. When dry apply a coat of NEW SPORTGUARD and allow to dry (4 – 6 hours depending on temperature and humidity). Apply a second coat within 24 hours to obtain maximum adhesion between coats. Ensure that there is adequate ventilation whilst the seal is drying. The coating should be allowed to cure for 48 hours before allowing light traffic.

When over coating previously finished floors, two coats of NEW SPORTGUARD floor seal / varnish are recommended.

Sanding & Sealing:
Ensure that the floor surface is free from oil, wax, grease, dirt and previous treatments. After sanding ensure all dust has bee removed by vacuuming or tac ragging. Apply a first coat of NEW SPORTGUARD floor seal / varnish and allow to dry (4 – 6 hours depending on temperature and humidity). Any Line/court marking should be completed at this stage. Apply a second coat and third coat of NEW SPORTGUARD floor seal / varnish within 24 hours of each other to obtain maximum adhesion between coats. Ensure that there is adequate ventilation whilst the seal is drying. The coating should be allowed to cure for 48 hours before allowing light traffic.

When coating refurbished Wood, Granwood and Gransprung floors, three coats of NEW SPORTGUARD floor seal / varnish are recommended to provide a hardwearing finish.

Note: If a Line/Court paint is used that is not Moor Floor Finishes Line / Court paint then a trial test must be done to ensure compatibility between the paint and the Sportguard.

For Concrete:
Thoroughly clean the floor using a degreasing solution and, if necessary, acid etch to remove any laitance. Apply the NEW SPORTGUARD floor seal / varnish with an applicator or roller. New concrete should be allowed to dry for at least 6 weeks before coating.

Maintenance:
The sealed floor should be damp mopped or a Scrubber/drier used with a solution of Moor Floor Finishes NEUTRAL FLOORCLEAN. To prevent the build up of grease / fatty matter on the surface of the coating it should be scrubbed periodically with a mildly alkaline solution, such as Moor Floor Finishes MULTI-PURPOSE CLEANER.
